Recent episodes of violence have raised questions as to whether Singaporeans are becoming an angrier lot, or just spending more time filming incidents rather than calling the police. Asst Prof Liew Kai Khiun of NTU’s Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information thinks it is the latter. "It is now commonly believed that such publicity will give bigger weight to the incidents, as people are given the impression that the authorities are paying greater attention to such cases of public concern," he said.
