Discovering the Humanities Journey: Highlights from NTU Undergraduate Preview 2026
On 16 May 2026, the School of Humanities (SoH) welcomed more than 100 prospective students and their guests to the NTU Humanities Undergraduate Preview 2026, an annual event designed to help offer-holders discover the unique opportunities available within NTU Humanities programmes and make informed decisions about their university journey.
Throughout the day, faculty members, student ambassadors, and alumni came together to share their experiences and insights on academics, campus life, and career prospects after graduation.
The event began with an exclusive Lunch & Synergy Session for invited students, hosted by Professor Jacob Stegenga, Acting Chair of the School of Humanities. The session gave students the opportunity to engage directly with faculty members over lunch, fostering meaningful conversations about university life and academic possibilities.

Following the lunch, students joined the Main Session, where more than 250 attendees were officially welcomed by Associate Professor Christopher Trigg, Head of English, who presented an overview of the School of Humanities’ undergraduate degree programmes and introduced the breadth of opportunities available to students.

Participants then joined the discipline-specific breakout sessions, where faculty members and alumni provided deeper insights into each major. These sessions allowed prospective students to learn more about curriculum structures, classroom experiences, overseas opportunities, and potential career pathways.
A new highlight this year was the inaugural Parents Engagement Session, introduced to better support families as students prepare for university life. Hosted by Assistant Professor Luke Lu, Assistant Chair for Academics, the session provided parents with an opportunity to raise questions and address concerns about undergraduate studies.
Topics discussed included hall life, academic workloads during the freshman years, and the range of resources available to support student wellbeing and success. The SoH Career Coach and Student Care Managers were also present to share information about career development support and student welfare services, offering reassurance to parents navigating this important transition alongside their children.
The event concluded with a tea reception at the SHHK Foyer, where students and parents continued their conversations with student ambassadors and faculty members in a relaxed setting.

The School of Humanities extends its heartfelt thanks to all faculty members, alumni, student ambassadors, parents, and prospective students for making NTU Humanities Undergraduate Preview 2026 a meaningful and successful event. We look forward to welcoming many of these future humanities students to our community soon.
