As we live in an era of rapid technological advancement, the presence of artificial intelligence (AI) has become ubiquitous in our daily lives. AI has revolutionized many industries and the translation industry is no exception. With the increasing use of machine translation, it is more important than ever for language professionals to understand how AI is affecting the field and how to collaborate with machines in this new age.

That’s why we are proud to announce a comprehensive seminar series on “Exploring the Intersection of AI and Translation.” This series will consist of 5 lessons covering a range of topics related to the impact of AI on the translation field. From the advancement of machine learning and the limitations of machine translation to the computational models of language and meaning, this series will provide a thorough examination of the current state of AI in translation. We will also assess the performance and evaluation of machine translation and explore the basics of regular expressions and their application in translation.

Don’t miss this opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of AI in translation and learn how to collaborate with machines in this new age. Register today to secure your place in this informative and educational series.

The fact that the above text was created by a machine (ChatGPT, with some tinkering) highlights the prominent role of AI in our current era. This series of lessons serves as an introduction to the field of natural language processing, focusing specifically on the principles, capabilities and limitations of large language-model-based technologies such as machine translation and ChatGPT. Our goal is to provide the audience with a well-rounded perspective on human-AI collaboration within the translation industry.

  • Topic 1: The advancement of machine learning and the limitation of machine translation,
  • Topic 2: The computational model of language; How do machines process language?
  • Topic 3: The computational model of meaning; What does “meaning” mean? How to map two languages?
  • Topic 4: Machine translation in all its glory. Performance and evaluation,
  • Topic 5: The low-hanging fruit of translation; regular expression.
