“Everything we have in this community, we built ourselves. If it does not exist within, we unfortunately have to be the ones to build it.”

Alluding to online tools, a dash of coding and a smattering of visual design, Olivia will talk about how they’ve built various resources such as the

  • The Map of Queer Public Groups (Queer Map)
  • How to get HRT Publicly Flowchart - An Estimate on the Queer Population in Singapore 2020
  • And a Case Management System

As well as other minor resources if time permits.

They will then talk about the challenges of running Queer Singapore, an online safe space and community for queer people who are uniquely tied together by geography.

Before which, speaking on areas that could be worked on within the community to help strengthen it.

About the Speaker

(Mx.) Olivia Paramour (they/them, she/her) is an independent activist and self-described “builder of things” who is working to figure out how to get from where we are to achieving equality and equity for queer people in Singapore. They believe in an intersectional queer, feminist, disability and sex worker inclusive future that recognizes the work done by individuals over prestige attributed to a group or organization. Along with being an activist, they manages Queer Singapore, an online community, as the Server Queen.
