NEWRI attains Bronze Award at the NTU Safety & Health (S&H) Awards 2025

NEWRI is proud to announce that we have been awarded the Bronze Award at the NTU Safety & Health (S&H) Awards 2025. This marks a significant milestone for NEWRI—its first such recognition—highlighting its strong commitment to safety and compliance, with no major issues found during assessment.

This achievement was driven by institute-wide efforts and key initiatives, including:

• A new standardized Toxic Waste Disposal SOP that improved consistency, compliance, and safety practices across labs.
• A sustainability effort repurposing unused lab coats for students in need instead of discarding them, working with colleagues from NTU OHS and Republic Polytechnic
• A Wellness Workshop Series promoting mental health, stress management, and work-life balance in collaboration with the NTU Office of Wellness.

Overall, the award reflects NEWRI’s collective dedication to maintaining a safe, responsible, and supportive research environment, with plans to continue improving safety and wellbeing standards. NEWRI will continue to build on this momentum and strive for even higher standards in safety, health, and wellbeing, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for research excellence.
