RISE organised a Lung Cancer Screening Symposium on 15 July 2026 in collaboration with the National Cancer Centre Singapore and with the support of AstraZeneca. The symposium brought together over 70 clinicians and researchers, and featured presentations by Professor Pan-Chyr Yang (National Taiwan University), Professor Vivienne Milch (Cancer Australia), and Assistant Professor Lai Geet Yi Gillianne (National Cancer Centre Singapore).
Participants gained insights into the implementation of low-dose computed tomography to reduce lung cancer mortality, as well as the latest advancements in lung cancer screening across Taiwan, Australia, and Singapore. The programme concluded with a closed-door dialogue, where stakeholders discussed key considerations and collaborated on recommendations to inform the development of a policy brief on Lung Cancer Screening in Singapore.

RISE Media Launch, 13 May 2026
The Research Institute for Cancer Prevention, Screening and Early Detection (RISE), jointly led by the National Cancer Centre Singapore (NCCS) and NTU Singapore, has announced the launch of two studies; one led by NCCS to evaluate multi-cancer early detection (MCED) tests and another led by the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine (LKCMedicine) at NTU Singapore to develop targeted screening and prevention for metabolic dysfunction-linked cancers in Singapore.
RISE was established in 2025 with the support of a generous gift of $2.5 million in memory of Mr Murdaya Widyawimarta Po to the NCCS Cancer Fund and $1 million in seed funding from LKCMedicine. The two new studies also benefit from these funding.
RISE Strategic Retreat, 24 April 2026, NCCS
The Strategic Retreat focused on internal alignment, governance, and finalizing RISE’s mission and vision. Participants engaged in thematic deep dives and identified new joint funding opportunities. A significant highlight was the commencement of strategic planning for a 2027 Large Collaborative Grant (LCG), strengthening the multidisciplinary ties necessary for our long-term research initiatives. The retreat was attended by LKCMedicine Dean Joseph Sung, NCCS CEO Lim Soon Thye, and RISE’s steering committee as well as patient partners.

CanPREVENT Symposium, 8–9 April 2026
