We are delighted to share that the LKCMedicine Cares team clinched the prestigious Health & Wellness Initiative of the Year - Education award at the SBR Management Excellence Awards on 21 November 2023. This award is a testament to the unwavering dedication, innovation, and hard work that the LKCMedicine Cares team consistently demonstrates in the roll-out of wellness programmes for our diverse workforce. The SBR Management Excellence Awards, a prestigious platform dedicated to acknowledging outstanding achievements in corporate organisations, recognised LKCMedicine for its leadership, innovation, teamwork, and initiatives that contribute to growth and positively impact both operations and the workforce.

Launched in July 2022, the LKCMedicine Cares initiative introduced by LKCMedicine Chief Operating Officer Dr Serene Ng, goes beyond physical health, addressing social and mental well-being to cater to the needs of the LKCMedicine community at large. This was in response to the profound impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on mental health and the prolonged absence of in-person social interactions.

The programme encompasses a wide array of events and activities for workplace wellness, such as mindfulness workshops, fitness classes, health screening, coffee chats, social workshops, carnivals, and various social events. Peer support is also part of its suite of activities. To date, 31 employees have undergone training in psychological first aid, and plans for establishing a network of peer helpers to provide support to colleagues in need are underway.

Additionally, LKCMedicine Cares actively supports social causes in its initiatives. Among the partners are the President’s Challenge, the Singapore Association of the Visually Handicapped and the Children’s Cancer Foundation.

“All of LKCMedicine Cares activities adopt an inclusive approach bringing people together and fostering a shared experience through social interaction… Due to the positive response from our (LKCMedicine) community stakeholders, we’ve expanded care beyond the workplace to the wider community and we are actively supporting various social causes,” said Dr Ng.

The introduction of this comprehensive range of activities has not only enhanced campus vibrancy but also fostered interdepartmental interactions and boosted employee engagement. These positive outcomes have garnered favourable feedback from staff, contributing to the overall success of LKCMedicine Cares.
