News from Imperial: Join us in London this November for Transform MedEd!

By Lucie Gibson, Collaborative Partnerships Officer, Imperial College London

Imperial College London and LKCMedicine are jointly hosting the Transform MedEd conference in London on 11 and 12 November.

The long-awaited return of our international conference is a celebration of the special collaboration between our institutions. Together, we will showcase the ways in which the global medical education community has risen above the challenges of the past two years through adaptation, innovation and transformation.

The first Transform MedEd conference held in November 2018 in Singapore

The conference builds on the success of the 2018 event held at LKCMedicine, as well as our open-access virtual series, Digital Transform MedEd, which has delivered 15 events to online audiences across nearly 60 countries since September 2020. Our wide-ranging subject areas have included designing better surveys for education and research with Professor Anthony Artino, e-proctoring for online assessments delivered by Associate Professor Swarup Mukherjee and building compassion into the curriculum led by Dr Theresa Martin. Recordings are available to view free of charge on the Transform MedEd website.

We have been inundated with high-quality abstract submissions from around the world for Transform MedEd 2022. We will shortly be announcing our carefully crafted programme of symposia, workshops and talks across our conference themes:

  • Evidence-based education
  •  Humanities and social sciences
  • Technology-enhanced education
  • Partnerships in medical education
  • Bright ideas in medical education

The ‘Bright Ideas’ theme is new for this year and offers a dedicated series of research salons, short interactive presentations and networking activities specially designed for clinical and education professionals at transition points in their careers. We look forward to meeting students with an interest in teaching, doctors seeking to become medical educators and medical educators aspiring to become academics.

We are honoured to be hosting four eminent keynote speakers: Professor Alan Bleakley (UK), Professor David Cook (USA), Professor Rachel Ellaway (Canada) and Professor Walter Eppich (Ireland).

Our commercial supporters include Von Hagens Plastination, Elsevier and MyKnowledgeMap. Further partners will be announced soon.

Join us at Transform MedEd 2022 to share your vision for the future of medical education and help build the community of scholars, thinkers, and teachers who can make this happen.

A range of registration options are on offer, from special student rates to institutional passes. Our online tickets will also enable delegates to join us remotely to engage with the keynote talks and symposia.
