Editor of Accounting Horizons
Prof Zhang Huai has been appointed Editor of Accounting Horizons, one of three association-wide journals published by the American Accounting Association (AAA), with the largest community of accountants in academia. In addition, he is an Associate Editor of the Journal of Contemporary Accounting and Economics and an Editorial Board Member of six refereed academic journals, such as Contemporary Accounting Research.
Faculty recognised for AGD advisory committee service and appointed as SAC committee chairman
On 30 June 2022, Assoc Prof Low Kin Yew was presented with a plaque and a token of appreciation for his service (2018 to 2021) as a member of the Accounting Standards For Statutory Board Advisory Committee of Accountant-General’s Department (AGD), Singapore. This is an appointment by the Minister of Finance. Assoc Prof Low Kin Yew has also been appointed as Chairman of the Learning and Assessment Committee (LAC) for the Singapore Chartered Accountant Qualification (SCAQ) Foundation Programme by Singapore Accountancy Commission (SAC) with effect from 1 April 2022.
Faculty recognised for council service
On 30 June Assoc Prof Choo Teck Min was presented with a plaque and a token of appreciation for his service (2014 to 2019) as a council member of the Accounting Standards Council (ASC), the accounting standard-setting body of Singapore. An appointment by the Minister of Finance and the only academic member on the ASC. Prof Choo had been providing theoretical and research insights into new accounting standards, among others, for the past six years.
2021 ABO Notable (Lifetime) Contribution Award
Congratulations to Prof Tan Hun Tong for being awarded the 2021 ABO Notable (Lifetime) Contribution Award in Behavioral Accounting Literature. The award was presented to Prof Tan Hun Tong by the AAA Accounting Behavior and Organizations Section The ABO Notable (Lifetime) Contribution Award is in recognition of a researcher’s substantial contribution to the theory and practice of behavioral accounting research during his/her academic career. National Day Awards 2021 - The Public Administration Medal (Bronze)
Associate Prof Low Kin Yew was awarded the Public Administration Medal (Bronze) as part of the Singapore National Day Awards in August 2021. The medal is given in recognition and appreciation of his contributions to education in Singapore.
