Reconfigurations 2025: A Confluence of Minds, Stories, and Possibilities

Reconfigurations 2025: 20th- and 21st-Century Literature and the Arts was held on the NTU Campus from 3 to 5 October 2025. Organised by the Centre for Culture and Humanities, School of Humanities, the conference invited eminent academics and researchers to share their research on the contemporary arts and to extend the critical discourses on their significance in our time. 

The keynote speakers for the Conference were Professor Peter Boxall, Goldsmiths’ Professor of English Literature at the University of Oxford, and Professor Liliane Louvel, Professor Emerita at the University of Poitiers (FORELLIS). The keynote lectures were streamed live on the SoH Youtube Channel and can be viewed here.

The Conference also hosted local and international writers and poets in panel sessions where they discussed their writing processes and inspirations. These authors included: Amanda Lee Koe, Tan Twan Eng, Alice Lyons, Sonny Liew, Madeleine Lee, Angie Mazakis, John Whale, and Yong Shu Hoong.

With more than 120 participants, Reconfigurations 2025 featured speakers from Asia (Singapore, China, India, Korea, Malaysia, Hong Kong, and Japan) as the rest of the world (Canada, France, German, Greece, Ireland, Israel, Ireland, Spain, Sweden, the UK, USA, United Arab Amirates).
