Assoc Prof Uganda Kwan Receives GREAT Grant for Oxford Research Engagement

Assoc Prof Uganda Kwan (NTU Chinese) has been awarded the Global Research Excellence Award for Travel (GREAT) grant, which supports NTU faculty in undertaking international research engagements that enhance the University’s global research profile.

Assoc Prof Kwan will travel to Oxford, UK, in October 2026 as part of the grant. Her research focuses on translation studies, Chinese literary and cultural history, and the intersections of translation, technology and intercultural exchange. Her work includes research on translation and governance in the Straits Settlements, as well as Chinese book culture and print history.

The visit will provide opportunities for Assoc Prof Kwan to share her research expertise and strengthen academic connections with scholars in the UK, while fostering international engagement for NTU.
