Shu Yun joined the Chemistry and Biological Chemistry program in the School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences in 2011.

She is not only an outstanding scholar but also a truly gracious individual. Having benefitted a lot from the society, she is determined to contribute back meaningfully. One group of the disadvantaged that she is very passionate to work with is the hearing impaired. And indeed, she has been a very active member in the Regular Services Project for the Hearing Impaired under the Welfare Services Club since she joined NTU. The club has organised a culinary course for the hearing impaired last year and the response was very good. They performed with them at the Singapore General Hospital to cheer the patients up at the SGH Arts Concert.

It is with the aim of equipping the hearing impaired with a useful skill that Shu Yun decided to organize another culinary course.
