IPS0012 - Transformative Adult Experiences for Deep and Meaningful Learning

Course Synopsis

This course explores key theories, principles and processes of adult learning and training. The fundamental principles will be explored through andragogy, the science of adult learning. The course focuses on understanding the critical factors outside the learner (environment and experiential), and factors within the learner (developmental characteristics, differences in learning styles, motivation and knowledge level) and the implications for optimising teaching and learning experiences.

The participants will learn the key principles and processes of adult learning and training

Topics include characteristics of adult learners, adult learning/teaching styles, establishing instructor/learning relationships, overcoming barriers to learning, increasing adult motivation to learn, promoting self-learning in adults, and enhancing knowledge through experiential learning. Effective research-based strategies and good practices in facilitating adult learning will be shared.

Please note that participants will be charged upon registration and no refund will be given for absentees. Upon confirmation, payment is required. Payment should only be made after the course placement letter has been sent to participants to confirm the registration. Cancellations/withdrawals are not allowed. However, a replacement may be sent to attend the same course.


Payment through GIRO/IFAAS

NIE will proceed to invoice the respective schools, and they can make payment through GIRO or IFAAS. The amount payable should be credited into the NIE bank account number 518-041272-001.


Payment by Cheque

Please submit the cheque together with the application form. Cheque should be made payable to “National Institute of Education” and participant(s)’ name and course(s) clearly indicated on the reverse of the cheque.

Notification
NIE will acknowledge receipt of the application form through email within one week. The course placement letter will be emailed to applicants who have been successfully placed in a course and upon course confirmation.

Please note that NIE reserves the right to replace an instructor for a course if the instructor is unable to teach the course due to unforeseen circumstances. No refund of the course fee will be made to participants.
