Winner of Falling Walls Lab Finale 2017
In an earlier post, we announced that Ms Agnes Reiner came in first place at the Falling Walls Lab Austria 2017 and will participate in the finale in Berlin on 8 November 2017. We are delighted to announce that Agnes emerged as the overall winner of the Falling Walls Lab Finale 2017 amidst stiff competition from participants coming from more than 50 countries. A joint PhD student from BOKU, supervised by Professor Bo Liedberg, Professor Wolfgang Knoll and Dr Jakub Dostalek, Agnes discussed the topic of “Breaking the Wall of Ovarian Cancer Diagnosis” by leveraging on her research on novel blood-¬based biomarkers for the early detection of ovarian cancer.
For her achievement, Agnes has been named as one of the “Falling Walls Young Innovators of the Year 2017”. The winners were selected by a distinguished jury of scientists and entrepreneurs, headed by the astronaut and former French research minister, Dr Claudie Haigneré.
