Winner for Best Student Poster at the International Workshop on Polyelectrolytes in Chemistry, Biology and Technology

We are pleased to announce that Mr Rui Andre Cardoso Goncalves, PhD student of Professor Lam Yeng Ming, has won the Best Student Poster Award at the International Workshop on Polyelectrolytes in Chemistry, Biology and Technology.

We are pleased to announce that Mr Rui Andre Cardoso Goncalves, PhD student of Professor Lam Yeng Ming, has won the Best Student Poster Award at the International Workshop on Polyelectrolytes in Chemistry, Biology and Technology. The workshop was held in NTU from 12 – 14 March 2018. Rui’s presentation topic was “Effect of Additives on the Packing in the Lβ and Lα Phases of a Lamellar Cationic Surfactant System”. The work focuses on the effects of different additives on the physicochemical characteristics of surfactants, which can result in distinctive packing structures. In addition, this research was performed in collaboration with Visiting Professors Björn Lindman and Maria Miguel.

About the International Workshop on Polyelectrolytes in Chemistry, Biology and Technology
The International Workshop on Polyelectrolytes in Chemistry, Biology and Technology has a clear interdisciplinary character, encompassing chemical, biological and technological aspects. The workshop covers fundamental and applied aspects of polyelectrolyte systems as defined in a broad sense, including all highly charged synthetic and biological polymers and aggregates formed from surfactants in aqueous medium, in addition to polyelectrolyte-polymer interactions and self-assembly. The workshop is a great opportunity and platform for scientists to broadly discuss current developments in the field of polyelectrolytes.
