At the end of Year 1, students may choose between the Second Major in Business (Mainstream) and the International Trading pathway through the International Trading Programme (ITP) Opt-In Exercise.

The Second Major in Entrepreneurship equips students with essential entrepreneurship skills while broadening their understanding of enterprise and innovation. The programme also fosters an entrepreneurial mindset, enabling students to navigate a world characterised by volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity (VUCA) and become drivers of technological innovation.

Students gain hands-on experience in technopreneurship and have access to relevant 20-week overseas or local internship opportunities. Courses are offered by the NTU Entrepreneurship Academy (NTUpreneur) and Nanyang Business School, providing opportunities to expand professional networks, become part of the entrepreneurship ecosystem, and seize opportunities created by emerging technologies.

The Second Major in Entrepreneurship comprises 30 Academic Units (AUs), combining Compulsory Core Courses, Elective Courses, and a compulsory Experiential Programme. The curriculum is designed to develop entrepreneurial knowledge, cultivate a technopreneurial mindset, and provide flexibility for students to explore different areas of entrepreneurship.

A key feature of the programme is its emphasis on experiential learning. Students learn through team-based projects, real-world simulations, role-playing activities, and practical experiences led by business leaders, entrepreneurs, intellectual property lawyers, and academics. They also have opportunities to expand their professional networks and engage with the entrepreneurship ecosystem.

To complete the Experiential Programme, students undertake either a 20-week Overseas Entrepreneurship Programme (OEP) or a 20-week local Professional Internship with organisations such as startups, venture capital firms, entrepreneurship support organisations, or innovation departments within corporations.

The Second Major in Future Foods equips students with interdisciplinary knowledge in food sustainability, nutrition, and food innovation to address the growing global demand for sustainable and resilient food systems. Students gain insights into emerging areas such as future foods, food processing technologies, food safety, urban food systems, and nutrition security.

Offered in collaboration across five NTU schools and in partnership with Wageningen University & Research (WUR), the programme combines academic expertise with an international perspective on sustainable food production and innovation. Students develop the knowledge and practical skills to understand future food challenges and apply solutions in real-world contexts.

As cities continue to grow and evolve, addressing environmental, urban planning, and policy challenges has become increasingly important. Issues such as environmental degradation, biodiversity loss, demographic changes, changing consumption patterns, and resource constraints require integrated and sustainable solutions.

Jointly offered by the College of Engineering (CoE) and the College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences (CoHASS), the Second Major in Society and Urban Systems provides an interdisciplinary understanding of contemporary urban systems. Students explore how engineering, technology, planning, policy, and social, economic, cultural, and environmental factors influence the development of sustainable cities and communities. Through the programme, students develop the knowledge and perspectives needed to address complex urban challenges and contribute to a more sustainable built environment and improved quality of life.
