Minor in Sustainable Urban Planning
The Minor in Sustainable Urban Planning (SUP) is designed to expose students to developments of sustainable cities and how these developments are implemented in the real-world. Students undergoing this SUP Minor programme are expected to be trained in urban planning strategies.
This Minor is focused on urban planning with emphasis in infrastructure and environmental sustainability.
All NTU students are eligible to complete this Minor except for the following,
- Students reading Second Major in Society and Urban Systems
- Students Majoring in Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) admitted to
→ Year 1 in AY 2020-21 and earlier
→ Year 2 in AY 2021-22 and earlier - Students Majoring in Bachelor of Engineering (Environmental Engineering) admitted to
→ Year 1 in AY 2020-21 and earlier
→ Year 2 in AY 2021-22 and earlier
In addition, all NTU students can also choose to register for the Minor courses to fulfil the Broadening and Deepening Elective of their respective degree program.
Students reading Second Major in Society and Urban Systems
Students in the Second Major in Society and Urban Systems are not allowed to complete the Minor in Sustainable Urban Planning, but are allowed to take one or more of the following Minor course(s) to fulfill the Broadening and Deepening Elective requirements of their degree programme:
- EM5109 Environmental Issues and Sustainability
- CV5101 Civil Engineering and Sustainable Built Environment
The Minor programme allows students the freedom to take charge of what they want to do. Students can set their own pace and design their own curriculum in a way that best meet their personal needs and aspirations.
To be awarded the Minor in Sustainable Urban Planning, students will require to complete a total of 15 AU by reading the following five courses with 3 AU each:
- SU2001 Urban Planning & Design
- SU3001 Integrated Urban Management
- SU4001 Leaders in Urban System & Policy
- EM5109 Environmental Issues and Sustainability
- CV5101 Civil Engineering and Sustainable Built Environment
Flexible Grading Option (FGO) can be applied to courses that count towards the fulfilment of the minor programe. However, students shall take note of the grading requirement:
- For students admitted in AY2020-2021 and earlier, and students admitted directly to Year 2 in AY2021-2022: FGO-declared courses cannot be counted towards the fulfillment of the minor programme.
- For students admitted to Year 1 in AY2021-2022 and all students admitted from AY2022-2023 and onwards:
- Minor: Up to 6 AU of courses can be non-letter graded, which can be include courses declared for FGO.
