Biography

Richard Koh has nearly 4 decades of industry experience in Infocomm (ICT), Treasury (Foreign Exchange) and eCommerce across Asia Pacific with JPMorgan, Standard Chartered Bank and PwC, and is an Associate Professor (adjunct) at NBS teaching in both the full-time MBA and B.Bus. degree programmes. 

He is the Founder/Chairman of M-DAQ Global, a Singapore home-grown financial technology startup founded in Jan 2010, where he served as the Group CEO until May 2025. Today, the group serves global e-commerce marketplaces, securities exchanges, fintech companies, and corporates across 45 markets, processing over S$25 billion worth of cross-border transactions annually with a paid-up capital of S$213 million.

M-DAQ is supported by Economic Development Board, Enterprise Singapore and licensed by Monetary Authority of Singapore. It is headquartered in Singapore, it has presence in Indonesia, China, Hong Kong, Japan and Malaysia.

M-DAQ won the top prize in the inaugural SG:Digital Techblazers award organised by Infocomm and Media Development Authority (IMDA) and SGTech in 2018. It also won the coveted Best Technology Company To Work For biennial award by Singapore Computer Society (SCS) in 2019. It is also the winner in the E50 Special 25th Anniversary inaugural Digital Economy Award in 2019. M-DAQ was selected as an Enterprise Singapore Scale-Up company in 2023.

Richard has been a Fellow Chartered Accountant (FCA) since 2010 and holds an Executive MBA in International Business (First in Class/Valedictorian), Graduate Diploma in Techno-entrepreneurship, Graduate Diploma in eCommerce, Bachelor of Accountancy (Honours) with specialization in Banking and Finance, Group Diploma in Accounting (1st Singapore Gold Medalist) and Diploma in Computer Studies. He is currently pursuing a full-time PhD in Business (General Management).

Richard holds 4 patents P-No. 177236 [WO/2012/008915] and [WO/2012/008926] on “Method and System of Trading a Security in a Foreign Currency” dated 13 Jul 2010.  In 2018, he was named Entrepreneur of the Year by Singapore Computer Society.

 In 2020, he was named Entrepreneur of The Year - Financial Technology by EY.

 In 2024, he was bestowed the Nanyang Alumni Achievement Award by NTU Singapore.

 He currently serves in the Nanyang Business School Advisory Board (2019-), the NUS Business School (Accounting) Advisory Board (2020-) and the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants Academy Board (2025-) as well as several grassroots organizations.
