LEADERSHIP, MANAGEMENT & ORGANISATION

Nanyang Business School PhD Programme in Leadership, Management, and Organisation

Our Programme

Our PhD Programme is designed for students who wish to study and research into organisational behaviour and human resource management.

We have a strong focus on empirical research and offer the opportunity to work with faculty members who publish in the field’s top journals, such as the Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, Journal of Applied Psychology, Organization Science, and Organizational Behaviour and Human Decision Processes.

Our goal

We aim to produce academics who publish world-class research and whose ideas have practical implications for the modern workplace. Through our holistic training, plus mentorship and collaboration opportunities, we seek to develop researchers for placement in leading research universities globally.

Our area focuses on studying people in their roles as employees, managers, and leaders.  By drawing on concepts and research methods from psychology and sociology, you will learn to conduct research on people’s behaviour in organisational contexts.

Our research

In particular, we have a special emphasis on cross-cultural and intercultural organisational behaviour in the global context. Research topics may include culture, personality, motivation, negotiation, decision making, power, leadership, team processes, compensation and benefits, talent sourcing, and human resource management.

A key strength of the PhD Programme in Leadership, Management, and Organisation is our focus on the theory and practice of cultural intelligence (CQ), the capability to work effectively across cultures. PhD students with unique interests in extending the knowledge domain in this area will have the opportunity to work with a team of faculty on the CQ research programme.
