Professor Jacob Stegenga Appointed Acting Chair of NTU School of Humanities

We are excited to announce our new Acting Chair, Professor Jacob Stegenga, of NTU Philosophy.
Professor Stegenga will assume the role of Acting Chair of the School of Humanities on 16 February 2026.
Jacob Stegenga is a philosopher of science and has published on topics in general philosophy of science, philosophy of medicine, and philosophy of biology. Prior to joining NTU, he was a Professor at the University of Cambridge, and he received his PhD from the University of California, San Diego. Professor Stegenga is also a Principal Research Associate at the Cambridge Leverhulme Centre for the Future of Intelligence, where he leads a project on amalgamating evidence about causes. His current research interests include values in science, causal reasoning, and the ethics of war. He is the author of Medical Nihilism (2018), Care and Cure: An Introduction to Philosophy of Medicine (2018), and Heart of Science (2026).
We also extend our heartfelt thanks to Professor Jon Wilson for his leadership as Acting Chair of SoH from July 2025 to January 2026.
