French Module at CML Hosts Screening of Québec Film Miss Boots (Mlle Bottine)
On 9 September 2026, the French Module at the Centre for Modern Languages (CML), led by Johanna Metivier and Estelle Bech, hosted a special screening of the Québec film Mlle Bottine (Miss Boots) at the SHHK Auditorium.
Presented in French with English subtitles, the screening attracted more than 170 NTU students and staff. Blending burlesque humor and tenderness with stunning views of Québec’s landscapes, the film offered attendees an engaging glimpse into Québec’s unique culture and identity.
The event was attended by several distinguished guests, including CoHASS Dean, Professor Jon Wilson, and CML Director, Jean-François Ghesquière, as well as representatives from the Québec Government Office in Singapore: Chief Representative, Catherine Tadros, the Public Affairs, Education and Cultural Attaché, Imelda Layanto, and the Commercial Attaché, Daniel Lim.
Prior to the screening, participants enjoyed networking opportunities and interactive cultural activities. Attendees sampled maple water and maple syrup candies generously provided by the Québec Delegation and took part in a quiz featuring Québec-themed prizes and delicacies. These pre-screening fun activities offered a lively introduction to Québec while highlighting the long-standing ties connecting Québec, Singapore, and the broader Francophonie.
