Emerging Filmmaker: Azina binte Abdul Nizar’s Short Film Showcased at Singapore International Film Festival 2025

We are delighted to share that Azina binte Abdul Nizar, a Year 4 English major and Creative Writing minor, has her short film showcased at the Singapore International Film Festival (SGIFF) 2025! Azina, whose work was premiered at the European Film Festival Singapore and the Rhode Island International Film Festival, is now bringing her work home to Singapore. Her latest film, We Learn to Breathe in Distant Places is a self-funded exploration of motherhood, spirituality, nature and the uncanny. The film is nominated for the Singapore Youth Film Festival and will also screen at the Singapore International Film Festival (SGIFF).
