Youth participants of the Youth Conversations dialogue sessions organised by the National Youth Council were interviewed about their takeaways from the sessions including the topic on the narratives of success. NTU freshman Pan Si Min (transliteration) once felt that the future is bleak as she was not able to enrol in university due to her less than ideal A level results. She then tried out nine different jobs within two years, and discovered that she likes interacting with children and is interested about how children learn languages. She applied for NTU Linguistics and Multilingual Studies Programme and was accepted. She said that she believes there is no established definition of success. When one door is closed, another door will open. The key is not to give up after one has set a goal.
