Convocation 2019 | SoH graduate Thomas Lee Ming Zhi awarded Koh Boon Hwee Scholars Award 2019
The School of Humanitities would like to congratulate Thomas Lee Ming Zhi on being awarded the Koh Boon Hwee Scholars Award on 23 July 2019.
To recognise teaching excellence and the impact great teachers have on their students, Nanyang Technological University (NTU) initiated the "University Scholars Award", first presented to the graduating class of Academic Year 2006/2007. The Award was renamed the Koh Boon Hwee Scholars Award in 2010.
This award gives recognition to the influence of inspirational teaching, and the enduring bonds that are forged between teachers and students. It aims to establish long-lasting and fulfilling relationships between the University, the students and their teachers. Students nominated for the award have achieved exemplary academic achievements, demonstrated strong leadership capability and have been held up as role models for their peers. There are 17 students from different faculties/colleges selected by the Award Selection Committee, NTU for the award this year. Thomas Lee Ming Zhi is the only award winner from the School of Humanities, and one of the two Malaysian awardees this year.
Thomas graduated from the Chinese programme, and was an active SoH Student Ambassador in supporting the school's outreach programme.
With his award, Thomas honoured his teacher Mr Lim Bok Seng, formerly from Methodist Boys' School, Penang, and Associate Professor I Lo-fen, School of Humanities.
