Responsible & Safe Use of AI in the Workplace

This programme equips participants with the knowledge and practical skills to use Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools responsibly, safely, and effectively in workplace contexts.

As AI systems evolve from content generation to more autonomous, action-oriented capabilities, the risks associated with their use — such as data breaches, incorrect decisions, and unintended actions — are becoming more significant. Organisations must therefore balance productivity gains with proper governance, risk management, and human oversight.

Aligned with IMDA’s Model AI Governance Framework for Agentic AI, this programme provides a structured approach to:
  • Assess AI-related risks in business use cases
  • Apply safe usage practices and controls
  • Implement human oversight and accountability
  • Develop simple governance frameworks for teams and organisations
Participants will engage in hands-on activities, case discussions, and practical exercises to translate responsible AI principles into real workplace applications.

Objectives
  • Understand key concepts of AI and emerging agentic AI systems in workplace settings
  • Identify common risks associated with AI use, including errors, bias, and data security issues
  • Apply structured approaches to assess and manage AI-related risks
  • Use AI tools safely and effectively while maintaining compliance and good practices
  • Implement human oversight and accountability in AI-assisted workflows
  • Develop basic AI governance practices for team or organisational use
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
  • Differentiate between low-risk and high-risk AI use cases in their work context
  • Recognise and mitigate common AI risks (e.g. hallucination, bias, data leakage)
  • Apply safe prompting and output verification techniques
  • Design workflows that incorporate appropriate human checkpoints
  • Recommend suitable controls (e.g. access limits, validation steps, monitoring)
  • Draft a simple AI usage guideline or governance plan for their organisation
