BIORAD GENE PULSER EXCELL TOTAL SYSTEM
STEM CELL PLATFORMS
The Stem Cell Core Platform functions as a multi-user shared research facility dedicated to support and accelerate studies involving human stem cells at LKCMedicine, in the industry and beyond.
The Platform can help maintain and provide well-characterised human embryonic stem cell (hESC) lines and human-induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) lines in addition to the training in essential culture techniques for human pluripotent stem cells. For further enquiries, please contact For enquiries, please contact Dr Ng Sean Pin at [email protected] or Ken Wong at [email protected]
In summary, the services provide the following:
• HiPSC line generation using nonintegrating methods, with further characterisation
• Two-day hands-on class on the basic methods of culturing human embryonic and pluripotent stem cells (hESC and HiPSC)
• Distribution of hESC and hiPSC from LKCMedicine stem-cell bank
• Use of the facility to culture and expand customised hESC and iPSCs
• Consultation and support for internal and external stem cell projects
• Gene-targeting in iPSCs using the CRISPR/Cas9 to generate single gene knockouts
Automated cell counters
• Real-time cell analysers
• Cell storage freezers and tanks
• Fully equipped tissue culture facilities with BSCs, CO2 incubators, waterbath, centrifuges, fridges, microscopes, etc
The Gene Pulser Xcell System is a flexible, modular electroporation system for transfecting every cell type from primary, suspension, and difficult-to-transfect cells, including T cells, to bacteria and fungi. The system is composed of a main unit, two accessory modules, the capacitance extender (CE module) and the pulse controller (PC module), and a ShockPod cuvette chamber.
