Asst Prof Muhammad Nursuhairi Bin Sumarni

Deputy Head Year 4

Dr Muhammad Nursuhairi is a Consultant Emergency Physician at Tan Tock Seng Hospital, where he has been practicing since 2019. He assumed the role of Deputy Head Year 4 with the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, Nanyang Technological University in August 2025.

Dr Nursuhairi graduated from the National University of Singapore with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) in 2012. He subsequently obtained his Master of Medicine (Emergency Medicine) in 2017 and completed his Emergency Medicine Residency training in 2019.

 In recognition of his commitment to advancing clinical practice, Dr Nursuhairi was awarded the Health Manpower Development Plan (HMDP) scholarship to pursue subspecialty training in Clinical Toxicology at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane in 2024.

His key areas of interest include Clinical Toxicology and Medical Simulation. He was the lead organiser for the inaugural Medical Student SIMWARS in 2023, reflecting his passion for innovative and experiential learning in medical education.

 A dedicated educator, Dr Nursuhairi has received multiple teaching accolades throughout his career. These include the Outstanding Teaching Award for Junior Doctors (TTSH, 2013), Junior Doctor Teaching Award (NUS, 2014), Junior Doctor Teaching Award (TTSH, 2018), Special Commendation Award (TTSH, 2020), and recognition as one of TTSH’s Top 20 Teachers (Division of Surgery and Ambulatory & Diagnostic Medicine) in 2022 and 2024.

Dr Nursuhairi remains committed to excellence in emergency care, clinical education, and mentoring the next generation of healthcare professionals.
