Engineering Innovation Challenge (EIC) 2025

Name of the competition: Engineering Innovation Challenge (EIC) 2025

About the competition: Organised annually by IES as part of National Engineers Day, the EIC is a national competition that encourages students to tackle real-world issues through engineering innovation. The theme this year is “Shaping the Future with Engineering Innovation”.  Participants were to develop solutions for resilient city living in areas such as Renewable Energy and Materials, Digital Transformation, Health Innovation, and the Food Supply Chain.

Date of the competition: 28 July 2025

Achievement: Third Place

Prize: $2000

REP Student/s: Aasish Mamidi, Chavonz Foo, Lavantika Prakash

Product/Proposal: Neurostride

Description: Neurostride is a wearable knee brace and support system app for osteoarthritis. It uses a lightweight knee brace fitted with IMU and EMG sensors to capture how the knee moves and muscle activity. These various signals can point us when there are period of increased pain. When that happens, the brace can deliver gentle electrical stimulation to help ease discomfort. The companion app uses machine learning to combine the sensor data, lets users start and adjust the stimulation, and shows clear charts so they can track their progress over time.

The same proposal achieved Semi-Finalist (the only Year 1 team) at the Global Consortium of Innovation and Engineering in Medicine (GCIEM) on 7 April 2025.
