Synopsis

This course is a BDE for any undergraduate student with an interest in the German language, culture, study and work life, but with no previous knowledge of the language. LG5001 will teach you basic German to the level of A1.1 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). Using a learner-centric teaching approach and a broad range of classroom and online activities, you will learn the basics of German through the four fundamental language skills; reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Thus, this course will be beneficial for you to travel, study, and work in Germany or for German companies. Learning German also makes you more employable in a globalised economy.

Pre-requisite:
No previous knowledge of the language

  • Read and identify information provided in simplified German texts.
  • Ask and answer basic questions about yourself, your family, food, living, and hobbies.
  • Listen to and identify information provided in short audio files.
  • Write short essays using learned grammar and vocabulary about a familiar topic.
  • Create and act a short role-play.

LG5002 will teach you the fundamentals of the German language to the level of A1.2 (CEFR). Through facilitation and a learner-centric teaching approach you will develop your German language ability the four fundamental language skills; reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Thus, this course will enhance your understanding of the German language and culture through a variety of classroom and online excercises and experiences.

Synopsis
This course is a BDE for any undergraduate student who already possess a level of proficiency in the language equivalent to LG5002. LG5003 will teach you the fundamentals of the German language to the level of A2 (CEFR). Through a learner-centric teaching approach you will advance your German language ability in the four fundamental language skills; reading, writing, listening, and speaking. This course will enhance your understanding of the German language and culture through a variety of classroom and online experiences and exercises. At the same time LG5003 prepares you for the Zertifikat A2, the A2 examination according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), which you can choose to take after completing the module.

This course is a broadening and deepening elective (BDE) for any undergraduate student who already possess a level of proficiency in the language equivalent to LG5005. LG5006 will teach you the German language to the level of B1+ (CEFR), while including some Zertifikat B2 materials. Through a facilitation and learner-centric teaching approach you will further develop your German language ability at an intermediate level. You will train the four fundamental language skills; reading, writing, listening, and speaking. This course will enhance your understanding of the German language and culture through a variety of classroom discussions, peer-teaching, and presentations.
