VISITING STUDENTS

 

Overseas postgraduate students who wish to gain insights into Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and build cross-cultural understanding are welcome to apply as Visiting PhD Students for research purposes, on a fee-paying basis. You will need to have a proposed research topic and have found a supervisor in Nanyang Business School (NBS) who is able to host you during the research visit.

Eligibility
  • Current students from a reputable university. Applicants are subject to review and approval by NTU.
  • The intended research should be:
    • part of the student’s degree requirements; and
    • endorsed by the student’s home university ; and
    • approved by NTU.
  • The intended research visit period is at least 3 months, up to 1 year; in alignment with NTU’s academic calendar
  • Students should complete their visit at least 3 months before their expected graduation.
  • Proficient in English
Hosting Supervisor Research will be conducted under the guidance of an NTU supervisor. Students should refer to the Faculty Directory to identify an NTU supervisor to explore their proposed research project.
Important Notes
  • NGNE applications are subjected to review and approval
  • Students must hold a valid Student’s Pass (STP) for the entire duration of the research visit. The STP does not permit to work and/or receive any type of allowance/stipend.
  • Visiting student slots are limited, on a first-come-first-serve basis – we recommend planning at least a year ahead for the research visit.
  • The visits must take place in Singapore. If the research collaboration takes place remotely/online, it will not be under the NGNE programme.

 

All inbound students are required to pay the applicable fees to NTU/NBS.

On-campus accommodation is not available to students in the NGNE programme and priority for student accommodation will be given to existing NTU students. NGNE students are strongly encouraged to consider alternative housing, either on-campus or off-campus. Refer to a list of alternative housing options here.

1) Who can I reach out to for further enquiries?

2) Can I extend my research visit duration at NTU?

Visit periods can be up to 12 months. Where applicable, extensions are possible, subject to approval. Relevant fees to NTU/NBS and ICA are applicable – there is no proration of the fees. Fees paid are also non-refundable. 

3) Is it mandatory to have a hosting supervisor?
