Lam Chung Nian heads the Intellectual Property, Technology & Data Group of WongPartnership LLP, one of Singapore’s leading law firms. He handles both contentious and non-contentious matters in the areas of intellectual property, media, information technology, data protection and telecommunications law, and has extensive experience advising local and multinational companies, listed corporations and government regulators on transactional, enforcement, advisory and regulatory matters in these disciplines.

He graduated from the National University of Singapore. He is admitted to the Singapore Bar and to the Roll of Solicitors of England & Wales, and is a registered patent agent in Singapore.

Chung Nian is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and has also been appointed as an IP Adjudicator empowered to hear disputes before the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS), as well as to the Singapore International Arbitration Centre Panel of Arbitrators for Intellectual Property Disputes, the World Intellectual Property Organisation ("WIPO") Panel of Film and Media Mediators, Arbitrators and Experts, and the panel of mediators for the IPOS-WIPO initiative for Mediation for Proceedings Instituted in IPOS.

He is the President of the Asian Patent Attorney Association (Singapore Chapter), a member of the International Trademark Association, and of the Intellectual Property Committee of the Law Society of Singapore. He has also served as a Co-Chair of the International Bar Association (IBA) Communications Law Committee, of which he is now a member of its Advisory Board, and is currently also a member of the Projects Committee of the IBA.

He is also a tutor at the Preparatory Course Leading to Part B of the Singapore Bar Examinations, and an Associate Faculty at Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS). He has also taught at the Graduate Certificate in Intellectual Property Law programme jointly conducted by IP Academy (Singapore) and the Faculty of Law, National University of Singapore, as well as at the Master of IP and Innovation Management course at SUSS.

Chung Nian’s list of awards and accolades include Who’s Who Legal’s "15 most highly regarded individuals in the world" for Telecoms & Media in 2014; Intellectual Property: Trademarks award for Singapore at International Law Office's Client Choice Awards 2015; Telecommunications category award for Singapore at International Law Office's Client Choice Awards 2016; one of only two lawyers in Singapore to be identified in Who’s Who Legal: Thought Leaders – Data 2019; and Lawyer of the Year for Information Technology Law for Singapore in the 2020 edition of Best Lawyers.
