There are 3 (three) tracks in the Chemistry Programme offered from AY21 (U21 cohort onwards), except for the BSc in Chemistry and Biological Chemistry with 2nd Major in Entrepreneurship (CHET), which has 2 (two) tracks only - PI and PI+FYP.

Students are automatically registered under the default track upon admission.  The default track applies to ALL programmes in each admission year unless otherwise stated, and is shown as follows:

Cohort U21:Professional Attachment and Final Year Project (PA+FYP)
Cohort U22 & U23:Professional Internship (PI)
Cohort U22 (CHDA) & U23 (CHDA): Professional Attachment and Final Year Project (PA+FYP)
Cohort U24 onwards:Professional Internship and Final Year Project (PI +FYP)

AU requirements for the 3 different options vary.  Please refer to the following curriculum and study plans for all 3 study options.

Chemistry Programme students between their 4th semester (Year 2 Semester 2) to 6th semester (Year 3 Semester 2) are allowed to put up a request to change their graduation requirement.  An email will be sent out in Week 7 of each semester for eligible students.

This change is allowed only ONCE throughout the entire candidature. Students are advised to make the decision only after checking their curriculum plan and their current academic standing.  Any subsequent request for a change in graduation requirements will NOT be entertained since it may have serious consequences for on-time graduation.  Students who intend to complete their graduation requirements with their default option stated in their degree audit need not submit the request.

Important Note: These Year-3 courses: CM3011, CM3021, CM3031 and CM3041 are offered in both Semester 1 and Semester 2)

Double Counting Policy for Second Major Programmes

For students in the ICC curriculum (admitted to Year 1 from AY2021 and Year 2 from AY2022), the AU requirement reflected in the students’ degree audit is based on the assumption that students select the maximum number of common courses that could be used to fulfil two requirements concurrently.

Students who do not select the maximum number of common courses will have to inform their Home School so that the AU requirement in their degree audit could be updated and they could therefore register for the remaining courses for their second major.
