The programme is a flagship programme as it is the first postgraduate Chinese Medicine programme conferred by a local education institution.
Graduates of the Master of Science in Chinese Medicine programme will:
- demonstrate advanced clinical skills, enabling them to diagnose and treat a broader range of complex conditions, leading to a more balanced and health-promoting approach to patient care.
- collaborate effectively with modern healthcare providers, contributing to the development of integrated healthcare models in Singapore.
- cultivate a research-driven mindset, leading to significant contributions to the scientific study of Chinese Medicine. This will help legitimise Chinese Medicine through evidence-based research and foster innovation in treatment protocols.
Candidature Period
- For full time students, the minimum period of candidature is 1 year, and the maximum period of candidature is 2 years.
- For part time students, the minimum period of candidature is 2 years, and maximum period of candidature is 4 years
FlexiMasters Credit Transfer
Candidates who have completed a FlexiMasters in Chinese Medicine may transfer up to 15 AUS of their credits from the FlexiMasters in Chinese Medicine to the proposed programme.
Students who completed the selected FlexiMasters programmes would have their minimum candidature waived and pursue one of the specialisation tracks directly.
Programme Structure and Curriculum
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Chinese Medicine or equivalent, or
- Completed NTU Fleximaster in Chinese Medicine with good grades, or
- Singapore registered medical or dental practitioners who have completed a TCMPB approved Graduate Diploma in Acupuncture, or
- An MBBS recognised by the Singapore Medical Council or a bachelor’s degree in an Allied Health discipline recognised by the Allied Health Professions Council (Singapore) (e.g. Pharmacy, Nursing, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Diagnostic Radiography/Radiation Therapy, Speech Therapy, Dietetics, Medical Laboratory Science) or equivalent, with demonstrated Chinese (Mandarin) proficiency sufficient to read classical and modern TCM texts and communicate in Chinese (Mandarin), or
- Singapore Registered TCM practitioners who has obtained an advanced Diploma in Traditional Chinese Medicine by the Singapore College of TCM (SCTCM) or the Institute of Chinese Medical Studies (ICMS).
*Applicants will be required to undergo an interview (conducted in Mandarin).
- Prepare Application Documents:
- Transcripts: Official transcripts from all post-secondary institutions attended.
- Resume/CV: A detailed resume highlighting academic achievements, work experience, and any relevant skills.
- Statement of Purpose: A less than 500 words personal statement outlining your motivation for applying, career goals, and how the program aligns with your aspirations.
- Submit Online Application:
- Visit the NTU Graduate Admissions Portal to create an account and complete the online application form.
- Upload all required documents and pay the application fee.
- Application Review:
- The admissions committee will review your application, considering your academic background, professional experience, and overall fit for the program.
- Shortlisted candidates may be invited for an interview (conducted in Mandarin), either in person or online.
- Notification of Admission:
- Successful applicants will receive an offer letter via email. You will need to confirm your acceptance and complete any additional enrollment procedures as instructed.
- Enrollment and Orientation:
- Once admitted, you will receive information about enrollment, course registration, and orientation activities to help you transition smoothly into the program.

4. Programme fees payment schedule:
- The deposit payment of S$5,450 will be used to offset the first instalment payment of the tuition fees billed.
- Students who withdraw or apply for leave of absence after the 2nd Teaching Week are liable for the payment of tuition fees for the entire semester fees as billed by the university. More information can be found on NTU’s website.
NTU Post-graduate Incentives:
All Singaporeans and Permanent Residents:
5. From the academic year starting in 2024, Singaporeans and permanent residents who enrol in self-funded master’s by coursework programmes at NTU will enjoy a $5,000 subsidy, with those in need of financial aid will receive up to $10,000.
For academic year starting in 2025, the $5,000 subsidy for Singaporeans and permanent residents will continue to apply. New students enrolled in AY26 in need of financial aid will receive up to $15,000.
6. Needy Singapore Citizens and Singapore Permanent Residents who wish to apply for financial may submit their request during the application of the programme for assessment of eligibility.
All NTU Alumni:
7. Alumni (Bachelor’s, master’s, and PhD degree) of Nanyang Technological University will enjoy a 10% course fee concession.
