2021 About SRGS

The Singaporean Researchers Global Summit (SRGS) series is a celebration of Singapore's global achievements in research and innovation, as well as providing a platform to bring together Singaporean IHLs and Singaporean researchers from around the world to share their passion and discuss their experiences both at home and abroad.

First held in 2019, the two-day SRGS 2021 aims to provide a platform to connect Singaporean Researchers globally and locally. This year’s theme for the Summit is Opportunities in Research, Innovation and Enterprise Plan (RIE) 2025. Outstanding Singaporean Researchers will exchange ideas and knowledge with speakers and their peers over two days. While we navigate through and beyond this COVID-19 pandemic, it is important to recognise the long-lasting impact research has on our world. The pandemic has disrupted most academic, industry and basic science research in an unprecedented way. As we reposition and realign our research directions, it is a very opportune time to bring Singaporeans together to recognise and address opportunities and strategies for, and challenges of research, protect research in progress and strengthen existing research ecosystem. It is also hoped that several of these overseas esteemed Singaporean Researchers would come back to Singapore.

The Summit aims to:

  • Connect Singaporean researchers globally to share their research work and interests, and interact with one another;

  • Encourage collaboration amongst Singaporean researchers and Singaporean IHLs;

  • Cultivate young Singaporean researchers by showcasing Singaporean research works and exploring possibility of mentorship by senior researchers;

  • Engage and encourage some overseas Singaporean scientists and researchers to return back to Singapore; and

  • Strengthen and maintain links with Singaporean researchers overseas, to widen networks of Singapore-based researchers and help promote Singapore’s R&D abroad.
