Dean's Awards for Education

Category 1: To recognise our junior/mid-career faculty and MSO staff for their excellent education performance.

Eligibility: All LKCMedicine faculty are eligible except for full professors. All MSO with substantial face-to-face teaching responsibilities. Past awardees will be excluded for a period of three years.

Evaluation of eligible faculty members and MSO staff will be conducted at the annual appraisal exercise by a School panel comprised of Vice-Dean (Education) together with a group of senior colleagues. Performance will be judged according to student feedback plus recognition of educational service in terms of, for example but not limited to, developing or improving educational systems, structures and approaches, and/or student-facing activities, such as student welfare. Structured criteria will be used for assessing performance. 

The average score for education out of a maximum of five will be computed and the highest scorers will be shortlisted for the award. Where there is a tie, the Vice-Dean (Education) in consultation with the Dean will make the final decision.​

 

Category 2: To recognise our joint clinical educators for their excellent education performance and significant contributions to medical education.

Eligibility: All LKCMedicine joint clinical educators are eligible.

Evaluation of eligible clinical educators will take into consideration the impact of their educational contributions. These may include, but are not limited to, excellence in teaching; contributions to curriculum and assessment; educational leadership, mentorship, and educational innovation.

Judging will take into consideration student feedback scores, where applicable, together with other evidence of the quality, impact and significance of the nominee’s educational contributions.

The final decision will be made by the Dean in consultation with the Vice-Dean (Education).
