On the much-anticipated evening of 25 July 2025, LKCMedicine welcomed home a vibrant assembly of more than 250 alumni, faculty, special guests and donors. Hosted at the School's Novena Campus, the annual Homecoming event was more than just a reunion – it marked the return of graduates, mentors, and principal donors, coming together to celebrate the Class of 2025.

Attendees began arriving at 6:15pm, greeted with light refreshments and the opportunity to reconnect with fellow alumni at the foyer of the Clinical Sciences Building. Among them were our PhD alumni.  The event, graced by Guest-of-Honour Chair of LKCMedicine Governing Board (GB) Ms Chan Lai Fung, also welcomed several other esteemed guests, including former Dean of LKCMedicine, now Visiting Professor Dermot Kelleher from the University of British Columbia; Mr Martin Lupton, Vice-Dean (Education) of Imperial College London’s Faculty of Medicine; Vice-President for Research of NTU Distinguished University Professor Ernst Kuipers; Deputy Group CEO (Clinical & Academic Development) of NHG Health, Professor Chin Jing Jih; and former LKCMedicine Executive Vice-Dean of Administration Professor Lionel Lee.

The event officially opened with an energetic K-pop performance by Altitude dance group, followed by a welcome address from Professor Joseph Sung, Dean of LKCMedicine. As he reflected on the alumni’s vibrant contributions, he also highlighted the impact their engagement has had on the School’s continued growth and identity.

Addressing the alumni, Prof Sung said, “It is heartwarming to see our alumni community gaining strength year by year, not just in numbers but in spirit. Even more heartening, under the umbrella of the Alumni Association, you have ramped up efforts paying it forward to your alma mater. These are fantastic examples of how we continue to build our identity as an NTU medical school, setting new standards for medical education and healthcare. LKCMedicine is what it is because of you – your passion, your dedication, your belief in what we’re building together.”

LKCMedicine GB Chair Ms Chan then took the stage to applaud the School's achievements and in doing so, reaffirmed its mission to advance healthcare and education. Emphasising the School’s ongoing commitment to its alumni, she outlined new opportunities for lifelong learning and a vision of mutual support within the LKCMedicine community.

“As you know, the MBBS curriculum has been updated. Many of you contributed ideas to help. We really appreciate your input, and we want you to benefit from those changes too. So for a start, we will be making the new digital health modules and AI modules available to all our alumni. This should be ready in early 2026. This is just one example of how we work to strengthen our partnership with you. As much as you have given to the students, we are equally committed to supporting your growth, your development, and your connection to the LKCMedicine community. Our alumni network isn’t just about giving back; it is about continuing to inspire and support one another as we move forward together. That’s the spirit we want to keep alive!” said Ms Chan.

Singaporean actor and musician, Tosh Rock then energised the night with his hip-hop performance, very much captivating the audience.

The main highlight of the evening was the presentation of 13 awards to recognise the outstanding accomplishments of the Class of 2025 graduates. The recipients were rewarded for academic excellence, leadership, and contributions to their specialisations.

Just before dinner was served, the Homecoming event culminated in a spectacular light show illuminating the LKCMedicine HQ building façade, after which everyone huddled close for a mass photo, capturing the spirit and unity of the LKCMedicine family.

With spirits high all around, Homecoming 2025 was more than a celebration – it was a vibrant tapestry woven from heartfelt conversations, joyful reunions, and well-earned accolades, reflecting the deep bonds and shared aspirations that define the LKCMedicine community.

Here are what some alumni had to share:

“Once we started working, it’s hard to always catch up with each other. Coming back here gave us a sense of familiarity. LKCMedicine is ever-ready to provide the best for its students, so I am confident that our future students are in good hands.”

-          Dr Jamien Lim, PhD Class of 2020

“Whether in classroom or hospitals, as students, we managed to work together in our teams and build quite close bonds with each other. That is something I still treasure until now. I think it’s nice to see the School growing as we definitely need a lot more doctors in Singapore. The fact that we are taking in more students is testament to the fact that LKCMedicine is doing well.”

-          Dr Sunil Ravinder Gill, Class of 2019

“All those late nights, writing theses, and being together with my batchmates are some of my fondest memories at LKCMedicine. LKCMedicine provides every PhD graduate with amazing opportunities and they train us well to combat the working world. Thank you LKCMedicine for the journey and to everyone who made it special!”

-          Dr Lee Shuen Yee, PhD Class of 2020

“I really enjoyed my five years at LKCMedicine and I am so happy to be back to catch up with my friends and professors. LKCMedicine prepared me very well for the career that came after, and I am very grateful to have had the chance to be a LKCMedicine student. LKCMedicine has always had a strong reputation for being a School that listens to its students and it’s something that it continues to do, seeing the accomplishments that my juniors are achieving.”

-          Dr Elsa Wee, Class of 2020

“Currently I lead as the President of the Postgraduate Alumni Executive Committee. The LKCMedicine PhD programme has really evolved with various initiatives from the School, nurturing us to become world-class researchers. I hope LKCMedicine will continue to soar to greater heights and for its research community to advance further.”

-          Dr Wee Soon Keong, PhD Class of 2022
