Celebrating LKCMedicine’s Community: Dean’s Awards and Appreciation Day 2025
On 4 December 2025, LKCMedicine senior leadership, faculty and staff came together at the Ong Tiong Tat and Irene Tan Liang Kheng Auditorium to celebrate the achievements and dedication of their colleagues and peers at the Dean’s Awards and Appreciation Day 2025. Now in its sixth edition, the annual event never fails to draw the anticipation and excitement of the LKCMedicine community.

The event kicked off with a dynamic Taiko Drums performance by an ensemble led by the Movement for the Intellectually Disabled of Singapore (MINDS). The audience were in for a surprise as LKCMedicine’s very own Dean Professor Joseph Sung, alongside our COO Dr Serene Ng and several faculty were among the drummers, putting up a rousing performance. The audience cheered on delightedly!

Prof Sung then officially commenced the event with his opening address, thanking the LKCMedicine community and those who have worked tirelessly to bring the School to where it is today.
“We believe that our mission and dedication is really because of everybody putting their efforts together for the past 15 years to bring the School up to this stage. And while we applaud their achievements, we also remember that it is the teammate-ship, the mentorship, [the] collaboration and the way that we support each other which is most important,” remarked Prof Sung.

He went on to express his optimism and excitement for the School’s journey in the coming years, highlighting that the School’s rankings had recently risen to be part of the top 85 medical schools in the world, up from the top 100 previously. In line with this, Prof Sung announced the introduction of two new Dean’s Awards categories in the next year:
- Dean’s Award for Innovation and Enterprise, which recognises individuals and teams who transform bold ideas into solutions with tangible societal, clinical, or economic benefit.
- Dean’s Award for International Visibility, which acknowledges individuals who significantly enhance the School’s visibility and reputation on the global stage.
- Both awards are open to all faculty members, research staff and MSOs.

Then came the award ceremony, where award recipients were invited onstage to receive their trophies from the Dean. This year saw a total of 11 Dean’s Award winners and 36 LKCMedicine researchers, staff and faculty who were recognised for their years of service to LKCMedicine and Nanyang Technological University, Singapore (NTU).

To show appreciation for the School’s Management Support Officers (MSOs), a video of the day in the life of MSOs showcased the many behind-the-scenes snapshots of how MSOs work hard to support the School in its endeavours and enable the larger LKCMedicine community to achieve greater milestones. The heartwarming video brought out bright and proud smiles across the auditorium.

The Dean’s Awards and Appreciation Day would not be complete without engaging fringe activities and ‘live’ stations serving delectable refreshments. Guests could customise their very own miniature character on LEGO keychains, immortalise the day’s precious moments with fellow colleagues in a photograph flip book, and even try their luck at claw machines.

The event continues to provide a valuable opportunity for the School to reflect on the past year and strengthen the connections within the LKCMedicine community as it prepares for an exciting 2026.
