Centennial Conference in Honour of Nobel Laureate Prof CN Yang

The centennial conference aims to commemorate Nobel Laureate Prof Chen-Ning Yang’s pioneering contributions in physics covering a wide range of topics like statistical physics, quantum mechanics, particle physics, condensed matter and mathematical physics etc; and to provide a platform for emergent physicists to share their research and innovation, as well as to nurture new partnerships and collaborations.

Prof Yang, one of the first Asian Nobel Laureates, was awarded the 1957 Nobel Prize in Physics at the young age of 35 for the work on parity non-conservation of weak interaction. He had been a strong supporter of the scientific programs in NTU. In 1971, he was appointed External Examiner for the Department of Physics at Nanyang University. The NTU’s CN Yang Scholars Programme, launched in 2006, was named after him, and Prof Yang engaged in lively discussions with our CN Yang Scholars whenever he visited Singapore.
