I decided to pursue my master’s after completing my undergraduate studies to deepen my understanding of the theoretical principles behind structural systems. As a fresh graduate entering the consultancy sector, I realised that the learning curve was steep, and I felt the need for a stronger academic foundation to support my professional growth.

Balancing a part-time postgraduate degree and adapting to a new job was undoubtedly challenging. However, it was also extremely rewarding. The programme not only strengthened my technical knowledge, but it also allowed me to discover my strengths, refine my problem-solving approach, and grow as a young professional.

I was driven by a desire to go beyond the fundamentals that I learnt in my undergraduate studies. I was drawn to NTU because of its distinguished reputation as a global powerhouse in engineering research. This programme stood out because it bridges the gap between theory and complex industry application, equipping me with the advanced expertise needed to tackle evolving engineering challenges.

The programme has strengthened my analytical abilities and enhanced my understanding of engineering behaviour. It has transformed my approach to problem-solving—from merely executing tasks to critically analysing them. Through engaging lectures and real-world case studies, I am more confident in navigating complex situations that require sound judgement and strong theoretical insight. This foundation will be invaluable as I continue to grow professionally.

My motivation in joining this programme came from having a deep passion for the industry and the need to refine my expertise in managing complex, large-scale international projects. I sought to move beyond execution and engage with advanced theoretical frameworks.

The programme has been transformative, offering critical industry insights. I have been able to expand my strategic decision-making capabilities and gain exposure to advanced analytical tools to effectively confront the complex parameters and high risks in modern construction. These skills allow me to lead projects more efficiently, mitigate risks, and deliver sustainable value.

I chose this programme to upgrade my knowledge and deepen my understanding of the standard and practices of international projects, contract management, project financing, and modern construction technologies. It has been a rewarding learning journey gaining valuable knowledge in construction management, project management, financing, contract administration, and international best practices.

The courses, guidance from supportive and highly experienced lecturers have helped strengthened my technical and professional mindset, truly transforming my career growth.

I was inspired to choose this programme because Singapore is a global maritime hub, making it the perfect place to pursue my maritime dream. The experience has been incredibly rewarding - the lecturers are amazing, and everyone is incredibly welcoming.

Studying abroad has taught me a lot, especially getting to know people from different cultures has been very rewarding. The programme has exceeded my expectations. One of the highlights of my journey here has to be going on a sea exploration with experienced guides, giving us the opportunity to see the industry up close!
