Previous Intake (AY2020 and before),five compulsory components in the curriculum:

Core courses (Core)
Core courses are offered throughout the programme of study. They are foundation courses designed to provide essential training in the fundamental life sciences and Social Sciences.
Students must fulfil a total of 36AUs of BS core and 18AUs of PSY core courses.

Major Prescribed Elective courses (Major-PE)
Major-PE courses provide students with opportunities to explore specialized areas of Biology and Psychology in more depth and intensity. The students may select their courses of study according to their own interests and career goals. Emphasis will be placed on group work and discussion of research papers.

  • Major Prescribed Electives (Biological Sciences discipline) – To fulfil a total of 21AUs, 7 (BS2xxx/BS3xxx/BS4xxx) Elective courses.
  • Major Prescribed Electives (Psychology discipline) – To fulfil a total of 39AUs (total 12 courses) from a wide range of Psychology Prescribed Elective with 9 level HP2xxx/HP3xxx and minimum of 3 level HP4000 courses.
  • Students may select either “BS4020 Final Year Project (12 AU)” or “BS4224 Professional Internship (11 AU) + BS4223 Professional Career Development (1 AU)” to fulfil the 12AU MPE requirement.

    • General Education Requirement: Core courses (GER-Core)
    The GER-Core courses are specified by the School as being essential to train today’s Science graduates, covering areas such as communication and environmental sustainability.

    General Education Requirement: Prescribed Elective courses (GER-PE)
    Students undertaking the Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences programme are required to read and pass GER Prescribed Electives from a range of areas. The number of AUs to be read in each area is specified by the School and in the table below. Students have the flexibility to choose the semester which they will read the individual courses.

    General Education Requirement: Unrestricted Elective courses (GER-UE)
    Double Major B.Sc programme (Students admitted in AY2017) in Biological Sciences and Psychology students are required to read and pass 6 AUs of GER-UE; while students admitted in AY2018 to AY2020 are required to read and pass 3 AUs. Students may select to read any courses from the list of UEs offered by all Schools within the University. Students have the flexibility to choose the semester of which they will read the individual courses.

    *Students may select either BS4020 Final Year Project (12 AU) or BS4224 Professional Internship (11 AU) and BS4223 Professional Career Development (1 AU) to fulfil the 12AUs requirement.

    A minimum of CGPA 4.50 plus at least an ‘A-‘ grade for the Final Year Project (FYP), are required for the award of a First Class Honours Degree.
