Core Research Areas
The research group focuses on the interdisciplinary areas of soft robots, soft materials, mechanical metamaterials, intelligent structures, and advanced manufacturing.
Core Research Areas
- Robotic Matter - structured materials with unprecedented capabilities of morphing shape, varying stiffness, sensing, responding to and communicating with their surrounding environment.
- Robotic Applications - soft grippers, soft exoskeletons, assistive devices, etc.
- Human-machine Interfaces - multi-modal artificial skins that can respond to various tactile or touchless signals, as well as monitoring human physiological activities, which can be applied in robotic sensing and perception.
- Additive Manufacturing - additive manufacturing technologies for soft and stimuli response materials, which can be used in robotic sensing and actuation.
- Assistive robots and exoskeletons
- Infrastructure building
- Advanced manufacturing
