  • Participants will learn the key concepts, frameworks, and best practices for ensuring data integrity, accessibility, and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Foundational understanding of the principles and importance of data management, the roles of governance, and how compliance frameworks shape effective data handling in organizations.  

Data Governance Good Practices and the Impact of new Technologies

  • Understand how to create robust data governance structures that align policies, processes and people, while ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements. 
  • This foundational knowledge sets the stage for effective data governance. The learning also includes the foundations and good practices needed to better manage data in an organization and the importance of data classification in relation to risk management and data protection good practices. 
  • Participants will learn about how AI and even sustainability may impact the safeguarding of organizational data assets. The learning also provides participants with the foundations and good practices needed to better manage data in an organization.

 

Data Compliance Roles and Functions

Francis Tay

Mr. Francis Tay
Lecturer, NTU WKWSCI,
Programme Director/Trainer

Francis is currently a lecturer at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) Wee Kim Wee School for Communications and Information (WKWSCI), teaching Business Intelligence, Information Sources and Services, and Information Entrepreneurship in the Master of Knowledge Management, Master of Information Systems, and Master of Information Studies and Master of Mass Communications.

He has been teaching at NTU at post-graduate level for more than 10 years. Francis has also conducted short courses under PACE’s programmes in specialised areas e.g., Data Analysis and Analytics, Market Sensing, and others.  

Ms Corrine Soong

Ms. Corrinne Soong

Ms. Corrinne Soong is an experienced Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) practitioner with the Singapore Institute of Management (SIM) and formerly with ST Engineering Limited. With over 25 years of diverse experience in both public and private sectors, especially in the engineering industry and the education and training sector. Corrinne brings a wealth of practical knowledge to the classroom. Her expertise spans GRC, Quality Management Systems (QMS), and organizational development consultancy.

Throughout her career, Corrinne has successfully partnered with management teams across various business lines to cultivate a strong GRC culture, improve in-line controls, and implement GRC frameworks, policies, and procedures, including Enterprise Risk Management (ERM). These experiences enable her to offer valuable insights and real-world examples that resonate with adult learners. Her teaching approach is grounded in practical application, ensuring that learners can immediately apply what they learn to their work environments.  

Corrinne holds a second upper Honors degree from the University of London in Information Systems and Management Studies and a Master of Science in Information Studies, specializing in Knowledge Management, from Nanyang Technological University (NTU). She is also a certified professional with credentials including the Practitioner Certificate in Personal Data Protection from the Personal Data Protection Commission (PDPC), Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM) from the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP), and Certified Risk Management Professional (CRMP) from the Risk Management Society (RIMS).
