Prof William Chen speaks at KoSFoST 2026 International Symposium in Korea

Prof William Chen was invited as a speaker and panellist at the 2026 KoSFoST International Symposium and Annual Meeting, held from 01 to 03 July 2026 in Daejeon, Republic of Korea.

Founded in 1968, the Korean Society of Food Science and Technology (KoSFoST) is one of Korea’s leading academic societies dedicated to advancing food science and technology through research, academic exchange, and industry collaboration. This year's symposium centred on the theme, “Food Science as a Translational Hub: Bridging Bioresources, Biotechnology, and Human Health.”

Alongside speakers from Korea and Japan, Prof Chen participated in the workshop “Next‑Generation Risk Assessment: Innovation, Harmonization, and Communication,” which was jointly organised by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety of the Republic of Korea and chaired by Prof Hyang Sook Chun of Chung‑Ang University.

During the session, Prof Chen shared the work of FRESH@NTU in advancing next‑generation food safety assessment and highlighted the ongoing NTU–World Health Organization (WHO) Joint Action Plan. The collaboration focuses on developing New Approach Methodologies (NAMs) and technologies that support animal‑free, physiologically relevant approaches to food safety assessment.
