Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) Programmes

Welcome to the English Language and Literature (ELL) Academic Group’s page for the Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) programmes!

The programmes offered by our academic group aim at preparing university graduates for a career as English Language or Literature teachers for the primary schools, secondary schools or junior colleges.

All of our PGDE programmes aim to prepare student teachers to be effective English language classroom teachers by providing them up-to-date theoretical knowledge and opportunities to examine language teaching approaches for teaching in the Singapore classrooms. Taking reference from the latest English Language syllabi , the programmes provide opportunities for student teachers to consider how linguistic and communicative competencies may be developed in the students they teach within any given context of language use.
