Computer Modeling Of Grain Growth Using Monte Carlo Based Simulations

Principal Investigator: A/P Mohammad Mujahid

Computer modeling can be used to study the transformations occurring during annealing and in other heat treatment processes. Among these is the grain growth process, which is accompanied with most of the transformations. Since the realization of exotic properties of nanoscale crystalline materials, grain boundary structure and grain growth characteristics have gained a considerable importance. In order to understand the grain boundary movements, Monte Carlo method will be employed for computer simulation of grain growth and grain growth inhibition processes in materials.
