Join us at the Institute of Advanced Studies and Asian Centre for Digital Cultures Distinguished Speaker Seminar by Ms Liisa-Ly Pakosta (Minister of Justice and Digital Affairs of the Republic of Estonia), in partnership with the Embassy of Estonia in Singapore.
"AI as the frontier of Digital States"
Singapore and Estonia are both highly digital societies that have placed innovation, technology and effective public services at the centre of their development. As artificial intelligence becomes increasingly important in both countries, there is growing value in exchanging experiences on how AI can be introduced in ways that are practical, trusted and beneficial to society. Estonia’s approach to artificial intelligence builds on more than 25 years of experience as a digital state. Minister Liisa-Ly Pakosta will introduce what Estonia has already done with AI, what it plans to do next, and where Estonia has chosen to proceed with particular care. The lecture will explore the role of AI in areas such as education, cybersecurity, national resilience, public services, justice, data governance, digital identity, innovation and economic competitiveness. It will also look at how technology can support strong institutions, effective decision-making and public trust. How can governments make the best use of AI while ensuring reliability, security and responsible implementation? How can AI improve services for citizens and businesses? Where is human judgement still essential? And how can countries with advanced digital ecosystems learn from one another?
Drawing on Estonia’s experience, Minister Pakosta will offer a practical perspective on the opportunities and choices that come with the next stage of digital transformation, while also opening the discussion on areas where Estonia and Singapore can continue to learn from each other.
