Prof Zhou Yan Receives GBA Award for Impact and Leadership in Bioeconomy

Congratulations to Professor Zhou Yan, Associate Chair (Faculty) at the NTU School of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE), Singapore, for receiving the inaugural Global Bioeconomy Alliance (GBA) Award for Impact and Leadership in Bioeconomy, funded by the Novo Nordisk Foundation.

The award was presented at the GBA Conference on Key Technologies in the Bioeconomy (KTB 2025) held in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Professor Zhou was recognised for her groundbreaking research in sustainable sludge treatment, which transforms waste into renewable resources through green processes.

Her recent innovation is a solar-powered, eco-friendly method that converts wastewater sludge into green hydrogen and single-cell protein for animal feed, offering a lower emission and energy-efficient solution.
