Biomolecular Interactions Facility

The Biomolecular Interactions (BMI) Facility in the School of Biological Sciences at NTU provides researchers with access to a comprehensive suite of biophysical instruments — from surface-based binding analysis to solution-phase calorimetry and mass measurement.
The facility has supported hundreds of research projects, collaborations, and publications since its founding in 2007. Whether you need kinetics, affinity, thermodynamics, stoichiometry, or sample quality assessment, the BMI platform can deliver the data you need.
The BMI facility is open to open to NTU, academic, and industry researchers across Singapore and beyond.

AVAILABLE EQUIPMENT
![]() Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR) The Biacore T200 is the industry-standard SPR system for measuring biomolecular binding kinetics and affinity in real time without labels. | ![]() Biolayer Interferometry (BLI) The Gator Prime is an 8-channel BLI system that measures biomolecular interactions in real time using fibre-optic biosensors in a microplate format. | ![]() Isothermal Titration Calorimetry (ITC) The Malvern iTC200 directly measures the heat released or absorbed during binding events in solution. |
![]() Mass Photometry The Refeyn TwoMP measures the mass of individual molecules as they land on a glass surface using interferometric scattering microscopy (iSCAT). | ![]() Mass Photometry Accessory The MassFluidix HC is a microfluidics add-on accessory for the Refeyn TwoMP mass photometer. | ![]() Dynamic Light Scattering (DLS) The Zetasizer Nano ZS measures particle size and size distribution using non-invasive backscatter (NIBS) technology. |
![]() Circular Dichroism (CD) Measures circular dichroism to characterise the secondary and tertiary structures of proteins and nucleic acids. | ![]() Fluorescence Spectrometry A high-sensitivity fluorescence spectrophotometer using a pulsed Xenon flash lamp for fluorescence measurements. | ![]() Analytical Ultracentrifugation (AUC) Characterises macromolecular size, shape and interactions in free solution. |
