About Us

The Biosciences Research Centre (BRC) is a shared research platform based in the School of Biological Sciences and open to researchers across NTU, other Singapore institutions and industry partners. Its purpose is to enable work on the biological and biomedical questions that matter most to Singapore and to the wider world.

Alongside essential life science instrumentation available on a shared-access basis, we operate six Specialised Research Facilities. Each is led by a senior scientist who provides technical advice, support with experimental design, hands-on training and, where appropriate, scientific collaboration.

Bringing well-equipped, professionally run facilities together in one place creates the conditions for internationally competitive research across the life sciences and draws researchers from NTU and beyond into a shared working environment. Built on NTU's research-intensive base, this infrastructure shortens the path from early findings to translation. Close collaboration with A*STAR and industry partners, for example, helps advance promising drug targets to the point where they can be taken forward commercially. 

Much of this work now depends on instrumentation that is too sophisticated and too costly for any single group to justify alone. The resource-sharing model is what allows the BRC to put that infrastructure within reach of everyone who needs it.
