The Biosciences Research Centre (BRC) is a research platform for SBS researchers but also open to NTU and other Singapore institutions. The aim is to facilitate research to address important biomedical and biological questions important for Singapore and the world in the XXI century.

By providing a research environment with state-of-the-art facilities, the BRC hopes to create the ideal environment for internationally competitive research in all areas of life sciences, bringing together researchers from NTU and beyond. It is a model of how Institutes of higher learning will operate in the future and also one that would drive top level research in the various themes undertaken by the BRC, such as potential commercial value. This model aims to rapidly develop new drug targets to phases where it can attract our commercial partners, through close interactions between BRC and DDC. 

Biomedical research in the 21st century is a highly advanced field requiring sophisticated and expensive equipment. The BRC aims to provide the infrastructure that is needed to pursue internationally competitive biomedical research via resource-sharing concept.
